So far I seem to be doing better with my questions here than the researchers (I'm merely the compiler) so I thought I'd try one more:
Our information indicates that David Praporgescu commanded 20 Infantry Division prior to his elevation to Corps command in October 1916 (and his subsequent death). Unfortunately we have no information on who replaced him at 20 division. Any body know? Our informtion also shows ([\/i]The World War I Data Book[\/i] by Ellis and Cox) that the unit was disbanded in December 1916, so we're interested in the period October-December 1916. As usual, any assistance appreciated.

BTW, Stoica, your info on Brosteanu indicates that he could not command 9th division (he was already commanding 11th). Passed this along to the guy who reported a command in 9th division, along with the source for your info. After much snarling at you  ;D he's going back to check his own sources. Thanks for the heads up.--R

We're working on this one too, but we're caught up into some events and there will be some delay to our answer.

Cheers,

from the book>
"General David Praporgescu"[\/b], Vasile Iosipescu, Editura Militara, 1967.

At the beginning of August, 1916, General Praporgescu is assigned to organize the 20th Infantry Division and is also given command of this  unit.

On the 18th of September, 1916, command of First Army Corps was assigned to General Praporgescu.
The General modified the composition of the First Corps, making it so that it had the following combat force: 38 battalions of infantry, 7 squadrons of cavalry and 24 artillery batteries. Sadly, however, the units and their commanders are not clearly specified. This issue requires further research.

A telegram signed signed by the chief of the Medical Staff of First Corps announces the commandment of First Army the following: [ch8222]I have the honour of reporting that on the day of September 30th 1916, 1330 hours, on the field of honour at Colți (locality) fell General Praporgescu David, commander of First Corps, after suffering a grievous wound caused by shrapnel originating from an artillery shell in the torso.[ch8221]

General David Praporgescu was the first Romanian general to perish in the line of duty while fighting with his troops on the front-line, in the war of 1916.

Let me know if the above info was useful and/or if you need more about Gen. Praporgescu
